Falling for Fall

By Elizabeth James

Fall is my favorite season for so many reasons: Pumpkin patch visits, making chili, seeing the leaves change, saying goodbye to mosquitoes… These are a few of my favorite things. Another really exciting thing about the fall is the return of Sleepy Hollow! For the second time, I was asked to return to Perry Farm to participate in one of our town’s most anticipated events. But this time, I was able to share the experience with my two older boys! A family that scares together, stays together.

For my first experience with Sleepy Hollow in 2016, I played the character Matilda Van Tassel.

This year, I was asked to give a new life to the Lady In White.

As the haunt of the woods, I was able to hide out in the Hollow and see audience reactions during the horse chase and hear the screams as the Zombie soldiers slowly made their way towards the crowd. Seeing my own teeny soldier zombie boy frighten people was one of my favorite memories of the entire show!

And my oldest boy had the best time playing the role of Elijah!

It’s sad now that it’s done. But being part of something so memorable for my kids and myself makes me have yet another reason to look forward to fall!
